One of the questions I get asked the most is how do I plan my travels and choose which hotel to stay at, and I will be honest when going away for a weekend getaway or a leisure trip which hotel you stay at makes for majority of your travel experience. Upon my recent trip to the City of Brotherly Love - Philadelphia I was hosted by Loews Philadelphia Hotel. It is located in the nation’s first skyscraper and combines living history with warm sophistication. It also fits all my criteria for picking a hotel when visiting a big city.
Hotel Location
If you are on a leisure trip, you must make sure that the hotel is located in the proximity of all the tourist destinations. If your hotel is located center of the city or town, it makes easy for you to visit the all tourist places in less time.
Loews Philadelphia Hotel is located in the heart of the city center and right across the Pennsylvania Convention Center and a stone-throw away from the Reading Eastern Market.
Hotel Amenities
The modern hospitality players understand the importance of services and different amenities to their clients. Your hotel choice should be based on the quality of services and amenities. For example, along with all the basic amenities, Loews Philadelphia Hotel also has an unique local restaurant, Bank & Bourbonserving traditional American fare with a modern twist, it also has a walk-in market POD for your morning coffee and confectionery, plus you have access to free wi-fi in your rooms and lobby.

Reviews
In an era of the technology, an end-user has unlimited options to choose because of the competition. Before choosing any particular hotel, you must go through the reviews from the other tourists who have already visited that hotel. There is no direct control of the hotel management to the reviews and testimonials so there is a space of 100% honesty and transparency in the reviews published in different travel websites. You can also surf diverse travel articles by different travel bloggers depicting the experiences about the city or the tourist spots.
Accessibility
This for me personally is an extremely important factor when picking a hotel. You should check transport options available close to the hotel - bus, metro, cab distance, etc. The lack of accessibility to transportation especially in cities can be quite cumbersome and can ruin your travel experience. You can use online maps to decide which hotel to choose while making your travel plans.
Value
Last but not the least - Value. Price is probably one of the most important factors but you must account for all the above which comparing the price of different properties. In the end it all adds up and is not just about the room rate. Don't shy away from asking for any special promotions and deals from the hotel directly. You'd be surprised how often you can get a better rate when booking directly with the property.
Always remember that your trip’s pleasure is directly proportional to the hotel you chose to stay. Or at least that has been my experience. If you find yourself in Philadelphia (or are planning a trip there) you must check outLoews Philadelphia Hotel and don't forget to make a reservation at their restaurant: Bank & Bourbon. I am quite impressed with the variety and quality of their vegetarian options. If you saw my husband (who is a carnivore) his fork was often begging for a bite from my plate. We had a hearty meal and the service was exceptional. Below is the photo dairy of my stay and the meal at the hotel. The night view of the city a few photos down is from our window.
