How To Apply Highlighter

By Hollysbeautybox @hollysbeautybox
Hey everyone!
I get soooo many questions about how to apply highlighter, so i thought i would do a good old fashioned how to blog post for you all.
First and foremost, there are two types of highlighter - liquid and powder. If you are a frequent reader of my blog then you know that im not a big fan of liquid highlighter and i LOVE powder highlighter. For me, its easier to blend powder highlighter than it is liquid but again, everyone has their own preferences!
There are six places on your face you can apply highlighter to. Highlighter basically is just that, it highlights any features of your face you want to stand out.
Be careful about how much highlighter to apply, as sometimes you risk looking like a big old shiney faced freak. yeeeeep been there done that!
How To Apply Highlighter
So i took a picture of myself and basically just de-faced myself! PLEASE excuse my eyebrow - i had started to remove my makeup (i always do eyebrows first) and then decided to take the picture! ANYWAYS
There are four arrows on my face, i will start from the left and work clockwise.
1 - Apply to the high points of your cheeks and temples. Basically sweep some onto your cheekbones and up into your temples and forehead. You will really make your cheekbones stand out.
2 - Apply some to the bridge of your nose. This is easy peasy - take a little brush (either a highlighter brush or even a wide fluffy eyeshadow brush) and sweep down the center of your nose to help reflect light.
3 - Apply to the arch of your brows and inner eye.  Apply the highlighter right on the brow bone and sweep over the area, and also apply some to the inner eye to make them pop, alternatively you could use a white shimmery eyeshadow for this.
4 - Apply to the cupids bow of your lips. Your cupids bow is the high points of your lips and if you sweep a teeeeeny tiny amount on there, you'll make your lips look fuller.
TIP: to make your lips look even fuller, apply a slightly darker (than your lipstick) lipliner to the lower lip - not the full lip, just a small amount in the middle.
Those are the best ways to apply highlighter to your face! if you have any questions leave them below!
