Using Google Analytics in your WordPress blog? We have got a dedicated guide for adding Google Analytics to WordPress. For properly tracking your website visitors and checking their behavior, you might need to integrate Google Analytics into your blog. MonsterInsights will make it pretty easy – the integration.

Oh, and by the way, do you know that there’s something called Scroll Tracking? Just like the name says, we will be able to track the website visitor’s scroll depth inside your blog posts, pages, CPTs and almost everywhere!

In this post, we are going to show you that how can you enable scroll tracking feature by using MonsterInsights plugin.

Why Scroll Depth Tracking Is Important?

Most of us are blogging for making money online. And as you know we need to rank our contents higher on search engines for generating traffic, revenue, and conversions. What we need for ranking higher on search engines? Probably quality content.

Content is King!

Engaging, simple contents will always help you in search engine ranking. For example, let’s take a look at our guide on starting a WordPress blog. There, we have added a step-by-step procedure for starting your WordPress blog. In plain English, in an engaging format. And that guide got 2000+ words.

So if a user doesn’t like the content, probably he will leave the website and never return. As a publisher or business owner, this will affect your entire business. By enabling the scroll tracking feature, you can see exactly where you need to improve (if any). The plugin will give you accurate scroll depth inside your posts.

And that’s how you can find the content which is not engaging or which needs improvement. Works great in 2019.

monsterinsights plugin

MonsterInsights is one of our highly recommended WordPress plugins for personal bloggers and business bloggers. According to traditional GA configuration, MonsterInsights would take the pain and provide an easy Google Analytics integration.

Without writing any codes or editing theme files, you can easily add GA code to your WordPress website. And another plus point is, the stats will be visible right in our WordPress dashboard. Don’t need to visit the GA property every time.

The MonsterInsights Lite version is free for the lifetime. For beginners, that’s good enough. When you need advanced tracking features and more, you might need to consider purchasing a premium license.

NOTE: The Scroll Tracking feature is not available in the free version of MonsterInsights. You need a pro license key or above for it.

How To Properly Track Scroll Depth?

Now, let’s move to the tutorial.

First of all, install and activate the premium version of MonsterInsights. You could do it right from your WordPress dashboard or by using an FTP client such as FileZilla. However, we always prefer the WordPress admin method. It is simple and easy.

Once you have activated the plugin, verify the license key. That’s how you can get priority support and one-click updates for the plugin. Now go to the MonsterInsights settings.

The plugin will enable the feature by default. You don’t need to do anything else. From now on, the scroll depth is being tracked by MonsterInsights. The plugin will calculate the stats like:

  • 25%.
  • 50%.
  • 75%.
  • 100%.

Sp 100% means the user got to the end of the page/ post. 25% means you are missing something inside post and needs improvement.

How To Check The Stats?

You can check the stats right from your WordPress dashboard. Under Insights > Reports > Publishers, you could see the scroll depth data.
