One of The Wild Honey Pie’s most beloved groups, How Sad, has given us a little sunshine during this dismal winter we’re having with their new cover of Blood Orange’s hit track “It Is What It Is.” In August 2013, How Sad released their Indian Summer EP, mixing 80s style synth, buoyant vocals and suave electronic drums into a very excited product. Applying all of these qualities to the mellower Blood Orange original, this new cover gives a great synth spin to a track already awesome on its own. Perhaps the most enjoyable part about this cover, though, is that these two groups seem to work really well together. The signature sound of How Sad is definitely prevalent, but the track stays true to the relaxed structure of the original.
