How HCG Helps in Treating for Infertility

Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is a hormone that is produced in large amounts in the first three months of pregnancy. It stimulates the production of essential pregnancy hormones. It is made by cells formed in the placenta, which nourishes the egg after it has been fertilized and becomes attached to the uterine wall.

As a woman, this hormone will be absent in your body if you are not pregnant, but research has found that the placenta will start the production once the embryo has been implanted in the uterus. This process then prompts the release of the pregnancy hormone, estrogen and progesterone which is very vital in sustaining the pregnancy.

Another amazing benefit of this great hormone is its effectiveness for treating infertility. Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG or hCG) can be consumed as a pills, injection, or as oral drops to the patient. It is a great booster for people struggling with infertility.

What HGC Does?

HCG does a great job in the body. It stimulates natural progesterone production by signaling the corpus luteum (the mass of cells that remains in the ovary after ovulation) for continuous release of progesterone, which causes a woman to miss her menstrual period. HCG production increases steadily, doubling about every 48-72 hours, during the first 10 weeks of a healthy pregnancy. This process helps to maintain fertility.

Uses of HCG as a Fertility Treatment

HCG may be released prior to implantation to support the implantation of an embryo. A research of 210 women going for In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) reports that intrauterine injection of HCG before an embryo transfer during IVF showed a "significant increase" in the implantation and pregnancy rates for those receiving the HCG injection versus those who did not."

HCG can be transferred into the body through drops, injections and pills. Whichever method you adopt will work perfectly. It is, however, necessary to consult your medical practitioner to prescribe the one that best suits you. HCG can be used as an injectable medication prescribed for medical infertility treatment. HCG injections are often used when other medications have been taken to induce ovulation and failed.

Below are other fertility conditions HGC can cure:

  • It treats infertility in men by boosting low sperm count in men.
  • It also maintains the production of progesterone in the first few days after insemination
  • Responsible for stimulating the development of the underdeveloped testicles in young boys

Tips: It should be known that this hormone may not be properly released when a person is struggling with infertility. It is however suggested to consider a medically assisted fertility treatment which may include HCG injections. The will improve the hormone levels of the body in other to promote ovulation and sustain pregnancy on its own.

Conclusion

HGC medications are known to be fast acting, however, most do not address the underlying imbalance. Medical professionals caution that HCG injections, HCG pills and HCG drops are medications and should only be used under the strict guidance of a qualified healthcare provider.
