While Facebook still holds the social media throne, there’s a small war going between Twitter and Google+ for the second spot of the world’s top social networks list. Latest statistics shows that Google+ is now the second biggest and the most active social network in the world with over 1.2 billion active monthly users. Leaving Twitter in third place which currently gets a little over over 416 million active users per month.
This comes a surprise to most social media experts who claimed the Google’s social network is nothing but a “ghost town” full of non-active users. Well, I think those people need to learn how to use Google+ properly because as a regular user of the site with over 7600 followers, I’m having fun like I’m in Vegas.
When Google introduced its’ social network, everyone thought that they came to the battle a little too late. But, there was a plan. Google actually used Google+ to make their other services better. They’ve already integrated it with Google Search to personalize results as well as with YouTube and many others. And also it’s a requirement for users to get the most out of Google Glass, which some refers to as the “next iPhone”.This is what made the Google+ a huge success. Google was planning for the long run, not just for the present moment. Which Facebook seems to lack in its’ development planning.
Obviously, Google+ is on a path to a bright future, while Facebook and Twitter seems to be trying hard to come up with genuine ideas to improve its’ services. Although, I admit each of these sites has its’ own uses. But, there can only be one winner. And I think these stats gives us a clear answer.
