Mobile Broadband Speeds

Mobile broadband is a term used for accessing the internet through wireless means such as using a phone or some other portable device. Because it is a wireless technology, it allows the use of portable devices to be able to connect to the internet. This technology has gone a long way since it was first introduced. It was part of the 2G technology for internet access and the subsequent generations and developments have made a great deal of improvement.

One of the main things that a customer should check when getting an internet service provider is the speed that he/she will be getting. A slow connection can be very frustrating as a user would just sit there waiting for the page to load. The same thing is true when it comes to mobile broadband. Speed is an important factor. The iinet NBN rollout is coming to your area, find out when you will be able to get onboard.

Mobile broadband technology has made great progress in the past few years and you can get speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps or even faster depending on your location. But you should be aware that the speed specifications that you are given by your service provider can be misleading in some way. The 7.2 Mbps for example, is usually the maximum speed. That means it is the fastest possible speed that it can reach. On the average, the speed could be as slow as 4Mbps. Sometimes the average speed could even be 2Mbps.

Mobile Broadband Speeds around the World

Different countries have different mobile broadband speeds. The more developed countries have faster speeds. That’s because it is also based on the existing infrastructure used in the technology. If you are thinking of moving on to a different country then it might be useful to check the mobile broadband speed that you will be getting there. Internet connection has become a major necessity after all.

In the more developed countries, the cost for every Mbps of speed is also a lot lower than in less developed places. That’s because of several factors such as the great number of users and they have the existing infrastructure for it.

Fastest Mobile Broadband Speeds

Cisco Systems did a study recently to see which country could boast of the fastest mobile broadband speed. The result is a bit surprising since the top country turned out to be Canada. The vast country boasted of an average mobile broadband speed of 4.529 Mbps. Does it sound too low? Remember that this is different from regular internet connection speed.
