How CBD Oil Can Decrease Aging and Acne

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

CBD oil is being used in many cosmetics - from toners to creams, salves, and shampoos. The value of the cannabis skincare market in the U.S. is projected to rise by 115 million USD by the year 2024.

CBD is said to be good for all types of skin problems, and just about every brand of upper-shelf cosmetics companies have some sort of a CBD skincare product. This includes big names like Sephora, Kiehl's, and NYX. Cannabidiol has gone mainstream.

There have been several myths and misconceptions about CBD Oil regarding its effectiveness in treating skin problems. In this article, we will be looking at what CBD Oil is and how effective it is for treating skin conditions.

What is CBD Oil

CBD also referred to as cannabidiol, is a natural and non-intoxicating compound found in marijuana or hemp (Cannabis sativa). Cosmetic CBD usually comes in a powdery form, which is called CBD isolate. CBD Oil is produced by mixing the CBD isolate with oil such as hemp or coconut oil - it is fat-soluble, just like tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CBD products can be in the form of creams, salves, or balms

CDB is non-psychotropic and does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol, the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis, so it won't get you stoned.

Although CBD is derived from hemp, it is important to stress that CBD oil is different from hemp oil or hemp seed oil. Both CBD oil and hemp seed oil are often marketed as cannabidiol products. However, they contain different cannabidiol compositions. The hemp seed oil contains little amount of cannabidiol, while cannabidiol is the principal constituent of CBD oil.

So if you are not careful while shopping for your CBD oil, you may not be buying exactly what you want. Ensure you read the product package carefully to be sure of what you are purchasing. More importantly, be sure you are purchasing your CBD oil from trusted CBD oil distributors.

CBD Oil for Anti-Aging

Aging is a biological process associated with phenotypic changes in cutaneous cells, including structural and functional changes in collagen and elastin, characterized by wrinkling, loss of elasticity, and rough-textured appearance.

Wrinkles and aging are often caused due to the production of free radicals in the body, capable of causing inflammation and damaging the skin. CBD oil can be used in preventing aging because of its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect.

CBD helps to prevent oxidation of free radicals, which causes inflammation on the skin and thereby protecting your skin from damage, diminishes redness and dryness and reduces the signs of aging.

CBD for Acne-Prone Skin

Acne is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that occurs when the hair follicles are clogged with oil and dead skin cells, causing spots, whiteheads, and pimples, especially on the face, back, shoulders, neck, and chest.

CBD oil possesses anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which makes it useful for reducing breakouts and acne when applied to the skin. Applying CBD cream or balm on acne-prone skin can minimize the excessive secretion of sebum, contributing to acne and other skin problems.

CBD Oil for Sensitive Skin

The antioxidant properties of CBD topicals have been found to help normalize and calm reactive skin by providing it with enough soothing properties and moisture needed to hydrate the skin. The antioxidant properties prevent the skin from being affected by an environmental stressor, which causes redness and inflammation.

Classifications of CBD Oil

Basically, there are three classifications CBD oil, which is based on the chemical compound content found in each of the products

  • CBD isolate; this contains absolutely extra addition. It is majorly made of the purest CBD extract and usually found in crystal or powder form. It only contains cannabinoids, any other compounds such as terpenes or fatty acids are not present in this version.
  • Full-spectrum; this type contains all of the cannabinoids and other plant compounds such as antioxidant compounds and minimal traces of tetrahydrocannabinol.
  • Broad-spectrum; this type contains all cannabinoids and other plant compounds except THC. The tetrahydrocannabinol should not be up to 0.3%.

Conclusion

Although using CBD oil for skincare is a recent development and still under research. However, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of CBD oil are critical factors associated with the effectiveness of CBD oil in treating skin conditions.

CBD oil has been proven to help treat acne, aging, and several types of skin conditions. In addition, the active compound in CBD also helps maintain balance in oil production and subsequently reduces inflammation.
