Hovvdy’s ‘Meg’ Sounds Like Home [Stream]

Austin duo Hovvdy, composed of Charlie Martin and Will Taylor, have released the second single off of their upcoming debut album. “Meg” is a cozy slice of indie rock effervescence. With classic lovelorn lyrics and multi-tracked vocals, the song brings to mind the best of laid-back early-2000s indie rock a la Elliott Smith or Grandaddy. Intricate guitar work brings the track into the present with the airs of Alex G, and the low-key pace of the tune makes it seem spacious, even as it clocks in at two and a half minutes. Understated and catchy, “Meg” is a glowing tune, as warm and comfortable as it is promising. Hovvdy’s record Taster drops on April 15th on Merdurhouse/Sports Day Records.
