House Tour - Week 8: Guest Bathroom

By Homewithbaxter @homewithbaxter

Happy 4th! I hope you all had a great day celebrating!  We had a fun day packed with a 5k road race, pool time, drinks, barbecue, and a corn hole tournament.  With the 90 degree temps, it's definitely feeling like summer now!
For today's "House Tour" I'm sharing the guest bathroom.  Given we're celebrating the Stars & Stripes, it just felt appropriate...You'll see why in second.
House Tour - Week 8: Guest Bathroom
I haven't made any changes to this bathroom since we've moved in.  It has a beautiful vanity with marble counters and custom cabinets, but the rest of the decor is a bit dated. The walls are covered in red wallpaper with gold stars.  Someone made a roman shade to match.

These are the custom cabinets over the toilet.  They provide a ton of great storage!

There's a huge framed mirror.  (These are all old pics, I'm not dressed like this for 90 degree weather!).

I haven't gotten around to hanging more than a shower curtain liner, but it does the trick. I like the bead board and marble detail along the front of the tub.

There's floor-to-ceiling tile in the tub/shower.

And it's actually a jacuzzi tub!

Here's one more shot showing more of the sink area.

With this bathroom we face the same situation as we did with other rooms in the house....It's in great shape and everything is really nice quality, but it's dated and not my style.  Womp womp womp.  A total gut job/remodel seems unnecessary and wasteful (not to mention expensive!), and I do like some of the features of this space.  I plan to give it a mini-makeover at some point down the road.  Plans include:
1. Removing wallpaper and painting 2. Hanging a new window treatment 3. Updating faucet and hardware in both the sink and tub with something a little less brassy 4. Changing out the sconces
Other ideas I have floating around in my head but aren't sold on yet are:
5.. Painting the vanity and/or cabinets over the toilet 6. Redoing the flooring 7. Redoing the tile in the shower
What do you think?  Should we redo the floors and tile or can we make it work?
