We all have that one desert island make-up product that we could not live without and for me it would be mascara. Lashes as we all know make the world of difference to our look hence why we are a beauty nation obsessed with them and I for one feel a lot more me when my lashes are looking good. Mascara is in fact one of my most favorite make-up items to test out as you never know what you are going to get.
When I heard on the beauty grapevine that HOURGLASS was launching a new mascara my heart fluttered; then it nearly exploded when I received it in my post box. I am the lash lady after all so it was a given that I had to try this one and thank the pr teams for kindly sending it over for my review! The pr package was a statement in itself as Hourglass really know how to launch a product - as you shall see from below! My last blog post featured the new Veil Loose Powder and Veil Collection so you will know that I am a massive Hourglass fan regardless - [here] in case you missed it. I have never used an Hourglass mascara believe it or not as I feel they have never been a huge focus until this launch and they have such an array of star products that just seem to steal the limelight.

One of the best things about this mascara is that is shall appeal to many is that it's Vegan Friendly, Cruelty free and also free from Sulphates, Nanoparticles, Phthalates, Synthetic Dyes, Oil, Silicone D5, GMOs. First impressions; the Packaging is stunning. The gold triangular shaped casing is like their Highlighter and Foundation sticks and I love that it doesn't roll off your dresser for a start! It looks super luxurious, feels nice and weighty and the shape makes this really easy to get a hold of making it really sturdy to grip.
The Brush may look quite normal but as I found from the Arch Brow Volumising Gels (here), Hourglass brushes are more than what they appear and work absolute wonders! This 4D wand has denser bristles on one side to saturate the lashes from root to tip and a shorter side to coat your lower lashes, all in one stroke. The tapered end of this brush really gets into the corners to reach those baby lashes without making any mess. I love this wand as it's not too big, not too small and is great for getting every single lash as some mascaras are not good on the lower lashes which always annoys me if I have to use two!

My Results ... Hourglass state that you should get 400% volume in one stroke? Yes, you do get instant volume but for my own lashes, it took 2 coats to get the extra volume I really liked as my lashes have grown quite long thanks to my magic lash serum (here!). It did however coat every lash instantly and build up amazingly well on my lashes without any caking or clumping and felt I could have kept going and going as the formula is so weightless. It is a gorgeous rich black that applies so effortlessly making this a really easy mascara to get along with.Like all new mascaras that I try out, I use them a good few times before making a decision and I actually liked this one the more I used it. This definitely lifted my lashes as you can see from below and being so weightless, kept them feeling nice and soft without any flaking or smudging at all, not even in the intense South of France humid heat - which is massive plus point! Removing it was so easy which surprised me even more seeing as it has such good staying power which is what made me rate this mascara more than I did first off. As you can see from my pictures, my lashes do look good I have to say! I really do like this mascara a lot but doesn't quite beat my current favourite from ByTerry Lash Expert (here) but it does sit behind it being another new favorite as it definitely beats many others that I have used and I do find myself alternating between the two brands as they give my lashes different things.

Each persons lashes are of course very different which is why we all have our own favourite mascaras, but I will always show and tell a good one that has worked for me so I suggest if it's in budget and sounds just what you are looking for, then go ahead and try it for yourself as it really is a good brand to invest in. In brief, I would highly recommend this mascara should you struggle with transfer in any climate as the amazing formula stays put and feels entirely weightless. If you struggle with your lashes sitting straight and you hate to curl them then this mascara shall surely help to lift your lashes from the roots doing the work for you - it kind of works like a waterproof, just without the hassle of removing it! The wand makes this great for lower lashes and is just a super easy mascara to apply yet adds mega oomph to your eyes!
