Hottest Job Categories for 2021 According to LinkedIn

Each year, LinkedIn analyzes its massive member database to see what job roles are experiencing the most growth. The job site recently released the results of its research of growth between April and October 2020. The results are grouped into categories that will be expected to see high growth over the course of this year. Here are the predictions.

1. Fulfilment

Retailers and logistics companies hired thousands of workers to meet the massive increase in demand for online shopping and touchless delivery of products. Hiring for e-commerce-related jobs grew 73% year-over-year. With more than 400,000 open jobs right now, the demand for these positions is still strong.

Some of the job titles in this category include driver (both long haul and last mile delivery), supply chain associate, and package handler. The salary for these hands-on jobs ranges between $42,000 and $56,000 per year.

2. Loans and Mortgages

The housing market has been hot during the pandemic; many who could afford to sought out larger homes or ones more convenient for everyone working and schooling from home. Workout and foreclosure specialists will also be in demand as those less fortunate face foreclosure. Hiring for loan- and mortgage-related positions in 2020 increased nearly 59% year-over-year from 2019.

Some of the job titles in this category include underwriter, mortgage loan officer, escrow officer, and loan closer. The salary for these jobs ranges between $43,700 and $60,000 per year.

3. Healthcare

It's not surprising that hiring for healthcare would increase during a global health crisis. In 2020, hiring for these positions increased more than 34%.

Some of the job titles in this category include healthcare assistant, pharmacy technician, dental assistant, and home health aide. The salary for these jobs ranges between $65,300 and $106,000 per year.

4. Sales and Business Development

Companies hoping to regain customers or expand into other categories needed people to develop and expand markets. Hiring for these roles grew more than 45% in 2020.

Some of the job titles in this category include sales consultant, sales operations assistant, inbound sales specialist and strategic advisor. The salary for these jobs ranges between $43,300 and $105,000 per year.

5. Digital Marketing

The massive increase in online shopping caused a big spike in demand for professionals well versed in reaching people through social media platforms and e-commerce marketing. Hiring for digital marketing roles grew nearly 33% in 2020 compared with 2019. The demand for digital content creators such as bloggers, writers, and podcasters increased by 49% year over year.

Some of the job titles in this category include digital marketing specialist, social media manager, marketing representative, and search engine optimization (SEO) specialist. The salary for these jobs ranges between $48,000 and $96,000 per year.
