I've never done a protein treatment on my hair before. My henna treatments usually serve the purpose of protein treatments - strengthening my hair. Since I am currently out of henna, and partaking in the 10 Empties Challenge, I can't buy any more henna. But, my hair has been acting up, so what's a girl to do? Homemade protein treatment it is!
I mixed one egg, one cup of Greek yogurt, and a teaspoon of hibiscus petal powder. I applied it the same way I do my henna, in small sections, left it on under a shower cap for 20 minutes and rinsed, then conditioned my hair.
The results: I found my hair smoother and shinier after the treatment. Only time will tell if I achieved additional strength, but I definitely didn't have much breakage while moisturizing and twisting my hair afterwards.
