Whenever we think about treating ourselves and the lovely woman in our lives on Mother’s Day, we think of spa days, massages and complete relaxation, and homemade bath salts are just about the easiest way to get that experience at home. It’s actually one thing I refuse to spend money on, as you can completely customize scents, making it much more affordable, as a small bottle of essential oil can last quiet a bit of time. Calming lavender, invigorating floral scents, bath salts aways make the bath a time to relax, soothe and escape reality. Even if you’re not a bath person, they’re great to sprinkle on the bottom on the shower floor for a luxurious shower experience. I just love the look of speckled flower petals and tea leaves in bath salts, it makes the bath feel even more luxurious. Bottle a few different scents, and gift to the wonderful woman in your life, with a decadent soap bar, soy candle, and face cloth onto a pretty plate they can easily keep near the shower. Mothers will not only love this decadent gift, but they’ll love it even more knowing that you took the time to make it for her. Of course, don’t forget to complete this lovely gift with fresh flowers.
You’ll Need
-Epsom Salt
-Essential Oils {I found these at Whole Foods}
-Dried Roses or other fragrant flower {pick a few from the garden, or simply walk down the street and pick some blooms}
-Loose Chamomile Tea Leaves
-Mixing bowl and spoon
-Airtight Jars
Measure how much epsom salt you’ll need by pouring the salt into the jar, then into your mixing bowl.For the Rose Petal Ying Ylang scent, crush up the flower petals in the bottle of the bowl, add in the epsom salt and about 5 to 6 drops of Ying Ylang essential oil {depending on the size of your container, you might want to add more oil}. Mix together until well blended, and add back into jar.
For the Lavender Chamomile scent, place the tea, epsom salt and 5 to 6 drops of the Lavender essential oil into your mixing bowl. Mix together until well blended, and add back into jar.
Label each scented bath salt jar with a pretty label, and gift to the lovely women in your life this Mother’s Day. But remember to make a few for yourself too!
