Home Remedies To Get Rid of Puffy Eyes

Hello everyone, how are you all doing? Eyes are the most expressive part of the face. But most of us face problems around eye area as we mature, the most common of them being dark circles and puffy eyes. Talking of puffy eyes, puffy eyes are swelling around eye area may cause due to a number of reasons like oversleeping or sleep deprivation, fluid retention, due to excessive salt intake, excessive consumption of alcohol and tobacco, hypothyroidism and aging. A puffy eye does not look good and there are ways to prevent it & cure it naturally. Here are few simple tips that will help you to get rid of puffy eyes.

  1. Use Cucumber

Cucumber soothes skin and helps blood vessels to constrict. Cut cucumber in circular slices. Lie down on bed. Place a cucumber slice each on your eyes. Keep it for 15 minutes. This easy procedure will help you to get rid of puffiness. Use this procedure regularly to keep eye puffiness at bay.

 

  1. Use Egg Whites

Whip 2 egg whites and apply it under your eyes with the help of a face pack brush. Leave on for 15 minutes & wash off with water. Proteins present in eggs helps to make skin tighter thus reducing eye puffiness.

 

  1. Use Potato

Potato starch is anti inflammatory. Grate potatoes finely then wrap the grated potato in a clean cotton cloth. Dab the cloth around your eyes. Potatoes also help to fade dark circles. You can use this regularly to get rid of puffy eyes.

 

  1. Use Tea Bags

Tea contains Caffeine that helps to constrict blood vessels. Chamomile present in some herbal tea helps to soothe skin. Take 2 tea bags. Dip them in hot water. Let the bag cool to a tolerable level to which your eyes can take. Keep it on your eyes for 10 minutes. This is a very effective remedy to cure puffy eyes.

 

  1. Use Cold Water

Splash cold water on your face whenever possible. Water keeps you hydrated and do not cause your eyes to puff. Also drink minimum 8 glasses of water per day. Cold water constricts blood vessels hence reducing swelling of eyes.

 

  1. Check Your Diet

Eat protein rich food and avoid too much salt in food. Food with excessive salt should be avoided if you get puffy eyes as they tend to retain water. Green vegetables like spinach, broccoli, cabbage and carrots are good for eyes.

 

  1. Spoon Wonder

Freeze two steel spoons in a freezer. Take them out when cold and place the bottom part of the spoon on your eyes. Repeat if required. It is better to freeze 2 sets of spoons together so that they can be used alternatively. This is an effective and easy way to get rid of eye puffiness.

 

General Tips

  • Massage your eyes with light cream every night before going to bed.
  • Avoid sitting long hours in front of computer at a stretch
  • Keep your eyes away from dust contact
  • Avoid touching your eyes often
  • Sleep for more than 8 hours in a day
