It is well-known for its anti-ageing properties, which is why it has a wide range of applications in the world of health and beauty. Amla is loaded with the goodness of Vitamin C and antioxidants. Apart from including fresh gooseberries in your diet, you can use its dried powder form for direct application. You can find the dried gooseberry / amla powder in stores selling natural ingredients.
Mix together 2 tablespoons of dried amla powder, freshly squeezed juice of one lemon, and a tablespoon of water to form a paste. Use it to massage your scalp. Let it stay for on for half an hour. Wash it off with plain water. Shampoo your hair the next day. Religiously follow this remedy for 2 to3 times a week and you will notice how your gray hair are gradually turning back to your natural hair color.
Oniongrey hairYou eyes may hate onion, but your hair would definitely love it. Apart from preventing baldness, onion can stop premature greying of hair. Not to mention you always have onions in your kitchen at your disposal. Make a paste of an onion and apply it onto your scalp. Let it sit for half an hour. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo thereafter, to get rid of the pungent smell. You will need to follow this remedy every day for a few weeks to get positive results.
Bhringraj OilBhringraj-Oil-for-grey-hairBhringraj, also known as false daisy, is a very beneficial ingredient for healthy hair. Bhringraj oil reverses the process of graying of hair. Bhringraj oil can be procured from specialty shops selling herbals. Take equal amounts of bhringraj oil and amla/Indian gooseberry oil. Mix them well. Use the concoction to massage your scalp and hair. Let it stay overnight. Shampoo your hair in the morning. You will notice a positive difference in a matter of few weeks with regular application. This remedy can be repeated 2 to 3 times a week.
Curry Leavessilver hairApart from lending a beautiful earthiness to your food, the quintessential curry leaves can reverse the process of graying. You can consume foods tempered with curry leaves. Do not discard the leaves; eat them too.
For a direct application, heat a cup of coconut oil and add a cup of fresh curry leaves to it and cook them till they wilt. The goodness of the leaves will be released into the oil. Allow the oil to cool off and then strain it. Store it in a clean bottle. Use it to massage your scalp and hair. Let it stay for about 45 minutes. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo. Follow this remedy twice a week.
Coconut Oil and Lemon MaskLemon-Juice-and-Coconut-Oil-for-grey-hairCoconut oil is the most common hair oil used in India. It makes your hair shiny, moisturizes them, and combats scalp infections. As you already read how coconut oil can be used with curry leaves, you can use it as a separate remedy with lemon as a sidekick too.
Take sufficient coconut oil in a bowl and mix a spoonful of lemon juice in it. Apply it onto your scalp and hair and let it stay for an hour. Wash off with a mild shampoo. Use this remedy every 3 to 4 times a week.
Apart from following a home remedy, you should seriously consider if you should continue to use chemical laced cosmetics such as hair colors, shampoos and conditioners. They do make your hair look fabulous for a while but have a damaging effect in the long run. Instead of using shampoos you can switch to shikakai powder. Shikakai is also known as Acacia Concinna It is a natural shampoo and gently cleanses your hair and scalp without doing any collateral damage.
Make sure that while using these home remedies, no ingredients get into your eyes. These home remedies might not suit everyone; some people have allergic reactions to certain herbs and oils. Do a patch test on the skin behind your ear to make sure the remedy doesn’t cause skin irritation. If the patch test results look fine, go for a full application.
