Home Improvement Projects You Can Do in One Weekend

Posted on the 05 May 2019 by Cheekymeeky

There are many reasons why people start a home improvement project. It might be because they want to raise the value of their home or make it more energy efficient. Perhaps they're looking for ways to make it more attractive. Whatever the reason, here are a handful you can accomplish in one weeken because we all know how painful it can be when a home improvement project drags on for weeks and weeks.

Spruce up Your Front Door

When was the last time your front door received any love and attention? It's something that gets used at least once every day, but it rarely gets the attention it deserves. First impressions mean everything and what is your front door saying about you? Give it a new look with an assortment of potted plants, a new welcome mat and maybe even a new coat of paint.

Revamp Your Kitchen Cupboards

Upgrading your kitchen cupboards is something that can easily be accomplished in one weekend. With a screwdriver and a little bit of effort, you can whip off the hardware and replace it with something brighter and shinier. Why not change the door handles while you've got a screwdriver in your hand?

Brighten up the Walls

If you've got some blank wall space, you can get very creative and make an impact in one weekend. Try painting one wall a different color and see what a difference it makes. Add some wallpaper to a room or decorate with some peel-and-stick wall decals. Get some new art to hang on the wall or create a wall full of your favorite photos. A feature wall can make a big difference to a room.

Update Interior Doors

What do the doors look like in your home? If you bought your home several decades ago and the doors haven't been changed, you've probably got very drab and boring doors that could do with replacing. If you can't afford to replace all your doors, then consider painting them and adding new hardware. Even your patio doors can be refreshed by changing the bifold door handles.

Declutter the Garage

Is your garage a repository for all the junk you've grown tired of but don't want to throw away just in case? It might not be the most glamorous of home improvement jobs, but you'll be amazed how much space there is in your garage when you finally say goodbye to the exercise machine you've not used for five years, the box of Christmas decorations handed down through the ages and countless other boxes filled with stuff that'll never see the light of day again.

Add Insulation

If you spend the weekend adding to your home's insulation, you'll be increasing its efficiency both in the winter and the summer. The recommended minimum is 40cm of insulation and if you've got less than this, you're losing money through your roof. Pick up some rolls of insulation and roll it out between the joists in your attic and you'll soon notice the difference in your energy bills.

When you feel like making some small but very noticeable changes in your home, consider one of these weekend home improvement projects and see what a difference it makes.
