Ricky Gervais hates the violence criminals cause with guns (wonder if he’s ever been to Chiraq?). After the Virginia shooting, he tweeted out the following:
“”Guns don’t kill people. People do” Yeah, people with fucking guns! #idiots“
“”if you ban guns you should ban cars too.” – A moron. When cars are made specifically as a weapon and can be concealed in your pocket maybe.“
“My Twitter feed at the moment proves that only the angriest, most unstable people want everyone to have guns.”
“Some dopey twat just tweeted “guns aren’t the problem. Everyone who isn’t a killer should be allowed to have one.” Hahaha. Perfect.”
But you know what is perfectly acceptable with Gervais? Promoting gun violence in an acting gig.
He stars in Special Correspondents, a Netflix comedy that premiered on April 29th. From IMDb: “A radio journalist and his technician get in over their heads when they hatch a scheme to fake their own kidnapping during a rebel uprising in South America and hide out in New York instead. “ It only has a rating of 5.8 out of 10.
From NPR: “The writer/producer/actor/director is in the new film Special Correspondents, which he wrote and directed, now streaming on Netflix. The movie follows two radio journalists, played by Eric Bana and Gervais, who are assigned to Ecuador to report on a war. But Gervais’ character throws away their passports and money by accident. Stuck in New York City, the two decide to fake their war reporting from above a Spanish restaurant instead. “You might as well watch it, it’s free. And I’ve been paid, I don’t care if you watch it or not,” Gervais laughs.“
Guess what Gervais is brandishing at the 1:19 mark?
