Highlights of Client Purchases in April

As the month of April comes to a close, I wanted to highlight some of the purchases made by my clients for the month. If you are just getting caught up, I started this series last month which you can check out here. A lot of the pieces that were popular in March were equally popular in April too, like the silver Cole Haan loafers and Cole Haan peep toe wedges in Maple Sugar. Sadly, those peep toe wedges are practically sold out and I haven't been able to find them anywhere other than Lord & Taylor. Here is a close alternative, also by Cole Haan.

If there was a theme to the client purchases made this month, I'd have to say that they were more casual in comparison to last month. I think this has to do with the time of year, the weather getting warmer and just the particular clients I worked with.

I also worked with a lot of clients virtually this month as opposed to in person. I'd say that virtual client work was double to the work I did face-to-face. This has little bearing on the purchases that were made, I just thought was worth mentioning.

Below is just a highlight of client purchases. Some things are sold out and others I just don't remember but the below is what I do remember and what you can still find in stores.

Nic + Zoe

Last month, I mentioned Peserico as a stand out line for it being particularly good for how easy it is to mix and match. This month, I can say the same about Nic + Zoe. Not only is it a good solid line of smart casual sportswar, but it is put together in a way that is so incredibly easy to mix and match. I don't mean in a dumb Garanimals sort of way, I mean in a way that makes it super simple to select items that can work together.

When I can present options to clients that are versatile and easy to mix and match they get really excited. So it's no surprise that a lot of Nic + Zoe pieces were popular with so many clients. For example, their perennial 4-way cardigan came in coral this season, which worked beautifully with their printed sheath dress, their geo print skirt, printed drape neck top and, for total ease, their matching perfect tank. I am really happy to have these easy options to choose from when shopping for clients.

Tops

Next tops. I have always found Lucky Brand to be great for casual tops that don't require a lot of work to look finished. In fact, I have quite a few that I wear in the summer. One of my clients purchased this printed Lucky Brand top that, as luck would have it it, also worked with the coral cardigan above.

The sleeveless Vince Camuto blouse in ivory has been a favorite blouse with so many clients I have really lost track. It can be tucked in, worn out, worn to work and on the weekends and it's easy to layer something over it or wear it alone.

The last three tops are all from Talbot's, the denim, green sleeveless tie front, and tunic. Rare is it that I bring clients to Talbot's, but every once and a while I find a few gems there.

Pants and shorts

If there is one pair of pants that have stuck out as being pretty universally flattering, it is Vince Camuto's ankle pants, available in several colors. I am hard pressed to come up with anyone who has tried them where they haven't worked. They're also super affordable too. You can get them on sale at Nordstrom for under $48! While you are at it, you should also check out Vince Camuto's front zip pants in white, soft blue, light pink, guava and sage.

Next, white boyfriend jeans. I have heard from many women how KUT from the Kloth boyfriend jeans are super flattering. It was this that had me suggest this white pair for a few clients.

Lastly, denim jean shorts. It took me years to actually wear shorts again. I have been recommending them to a few clients looking for casual shorts, like this pair from Lucky Brand, that aren't dorky.

Dresses

For dresses, it was all about casual styles and styles that could look professionally polished for warm weather. The first two dresses are from Boden. The sage can be dressed up with metallic sandals or dressed down with flip flops. The navy dress is a great staple that, again, can be dressed up and down.

Next, denim. Shirtdresses have been everywhere and I loved the idea of this denim dress that is the summer dress version of a chambray shirt.

The last dress from Eliza J. is super flattering on the figure and just easy in a fresh looking navy and white print that can be treated like a solid and accessorized with a lot of different colors.

If you have wide or narrow feet or very large or very small feet, you should definitely check out my post about Marmi shoes. Not only do they offer shoes for special sizes but you can check out some of the shoes one of my clients purchased last month. In addition to these shoes, there were some other popular styles purchased by a few of my clients.

The two-tone pair from Louise et Cie is probably my favorite. I know a few clients bought them. If you don't like a chunky heel you can also check a similar pair with a finer one.

For comfortable, casual wedge sandals, this black Donald J. Pliner pair was very popular, as was this taupe colored pair from Ecco.

Peep toe booties sandal styles continue to be popular this spring and these two styles, the cognac pair from Franco Sarto and perforated leather pair from Steven by Steve Madden were purchased by a few clients.

Jewelry

Rounding out the list is jewelry. While sometimes overpriced, I often find that Anthropologie has beautiful jewelry. Three of the four pieces above came from there. The first is the gold bib on the top left. A few clients have purchased it and it is stunning. It somehow manages to be substantial and delicate at the same time. The necklace top right is definitely on the pricier side but is quite versatile. The bottom left is another gold bib, this time from Robert Lee Morris. Lastly, the beautiful drops are also from Anthropologie.

I hope this lists of client purchases from this past month gives you some ideas of pieces you can add to your own wardrobe. I look forward to sharing next month's client purchases with you too.
