I went to Rochelle Adonis for high tea with 10 of my girlfriends in December for a pre-Christmas celebration. From the house made high tea menu which changes daily, gorgeous décor and attention to detail – high tea at Rochelle Adonis is just that extra bit special.
I had booked our high tea months in advance via email. It was $49 per person and BYO bubbles with a $10 corkage charge per bottle. There’s a 50% deposit required to book but if there’s any drop offs as long as you provide Rochelle Adonis 24 hours notice, it can be applied to the balance.
I was hoping for the afternoon session but it doesn’t take long for high tea sessions to be filled up at Rochelle Adonis so a champagne breakfast it was! First thing I noticed on entry was that there was not a male in sight, just plenty of ladies in gorgeous dresses – there seemed to be a lot of floral.
I had been saving my Grant Burge Pinot Noir Chardonnay NV sparkling that was sent to me the month prior for a special occasion…
The pinot noir grapes are hand picked from the elevated cool climates of the Adelaide Hills, Eden Valley and Alpine Valley to minimise damage to the berries and extraction of red color from the skins.
This sparkling has a biscuit-like nose combined with ripe raspberry and peach notes. Like most sparklings, Grant Burge Pinot Noir Chardonnay NV went well with both our savory and dessert courses.
On arrival we were offered Remedy single origin French press coffee and a menu of loose teas by The Seventh Duchess…
All served in beautiful vintage china cups and saucers…
We were served light cucumber sandwiches to start…
Then we were each presented with this gorgeous plate for our savoury course. There was a turkey terrine with peach chutney; a blue cheese and caramelised onion tart topped with a pear & hazelnut salad; a yorkshire pudding with caramelised onion mascarpone and smoked beetroot; and a glazed ham with cumberland sauce and a micro herb salad.
I loved the blue cheese and caramelised onion tart, the pear & hazelnut salad offset the richness of the blue cheese and caramelised onion beautifully. I also happily swapped my turkey terrine (I don’t eat turkey) for another glazed ham
This refreshing popsicle was our palate cleanser…
The dessert course was even more amazing! We were spoilt with Rochelle Adonis house made sour cherry ice cream sundae, christmas cake with brandy butter, fruit mince tart, pavlova with berry blossom and white choc raspberry mousse.
My friend Lisa said absolutely loved the sour cherry ice cream sundae. She said she could have had three more and I was in love with the pavlova…
High tea at Rochelle Adonis is that extra bit special with everything made in their kitchen. I loved that the high tea menu on any given day is designed to reflect the seasonal produce available at the time and the delicious creations are different to what you would find anywhere else. I’d recommend high tea at Rochelle Adonis for any special occasion – it is well worth it when comparing it to other Perth high tea venues.
