Here Goes Everything: Get to Know Petric! [Interview]

By Phjoshua @thereviewsarein

Jason and Tom Petric are ready to make waves in the country music scene. With the Here Goes Everything single already making the rounds, and support from their new label, Steelhead Music (Dallas Smith owned), these Manitoba boys are off to a good start.

The brothers have previously talked about being inspired by artists like Keith Urban and Nickelback, and that’s apparent in their look and sound (check out the acoustic video for Here Goes Everything at the bottom of this post) as they introduce themselves to country music fans. We’re pretty confident that this is just the start of big things for Petric… and we know we’re not alone.

We caught up with the boys via email to ask some questions about themselves, what they love about what they do, and what’s coming next.

Have a look!

Petric Here Goes Everything
Q. People are just getting to know you guys, so let’s give them something. Tell us something about each of you that fans probably wouldn’t find in a normal internet search.

We both played 3 years of High School hockey for the Transcona Collegiate Titans and both won city championships. Jason was the captain in the senior year, while Tom was an assistant-captain all 3 of his years.

Also… We both worked in our Dads cabinet making shop for many years. Our Dad and Papa (Grandpa) had the shop for over 30 years.

Q. Now in your own words, can you describe your music and give everyone a sense of what Petric is all about?

We feel our music has a very fresh sound. We’ve always been fans of bands and artists whose song were very upbeat and melodic, and that’s what we enjoy singing, performing and writing. PETRIC, is a chance for the two of us to partner up and be the best we can be musically. We both have strengths and weaknesses, but we really do compliment each other quite well on and off stage.

Q. We’ve talked to a few sibling acts before, and they all seem to have their own special dynamic. What is it about you guys that you think works best in the music business?

Like I said in the question above, we compliment each other very well. When one of us is going really hard at something, maybe too hard, the other one is usually there to calm the storm and balance it out. Vice versa, when one of us isn’t on the ball, the other usually is. And in the business end of things, we make a really good team.

Q. Do us a favour, rank these 5 things we know are part of your life as a band.

Performing – 1
Recording – 2
Writing – 3
After Party – 4
Travel – 5

Q. How great is it to have someone like Dallas behind you knowing that he brings a bunch of experience from the music industry?

We are soooo lucky to have Dallas, and the Steelhead team behind us. Dallas, Scott Cooke, and Alex Seif, are all the best at what they do. We are always learning something new each time we get to work with them, or even just talk and hang out with them. Its great to get in with a group of guy like this at our age.

Q. Let’s wrap this up… tell country music fans what’s coming up for Petric and why you’re excited for it!

MORE MUSIC!!!! We’ve been hammering it out in the studio. We’re pretty confident we’ll have an album out before the end of the year, which will lead to more shows, and singles, and all sorts of fun stuff!!!

Thanks to Jason and Tom for playing along. Hit play and listen to Here Goes Everything now, and find Petric online at these fine locations…
