Diana Vickers - "Cinderella"
Further proof that this woman can do no pop wrong, and was put on the planet to create multitudinous frothy, effervescent popsterpieces! From the sweet fairy tale lyric and irresistible melody to the adorable video, it's fabulosity defined.
Bright Light Bright Light - "Immature"
This beautiful track is the first on his newly released and long-awaited album Make Me Believe in Hope. More lusciously wise, yet dancey brilliance from BLBL.
The Saturdays - "Gentleman"
This reminds me of one of my favorite Sugababes songs, "Side Chick," for a few reasons. The witty, sassy rapid-fire lyrics and stunning vocals make one think the song cannot possibly get any better, and then the "rap bridge" happens. WHAT. WHAT.
"I need a Jonas Brother and / how bout a Denzel Washington." Ladies and gentlemen, not only did that lyric just happen, but it's only a drop in the bucket in the perfection that is this cheesetastic, yet classy insta-classic.
Vanbot - "Hold this Moment" and "When My Heart Breaks"
Vanbot have really come into their own with their latest two tracks, and this level of exquisitely bittersweet, Swedish angst pop is truly a wonder to behold. Cannot wait for this album.
"I just found out I want you so badly / I just found out I'm in it for real" - Amazing.
Lana Del Rey - "American"
One of the very prettiest of anthems about being listless and dreamy and angsty in America from her latest album filled with songs on that ever-fruitful topic, Paradise.
Armin van Buuren ft. Trevor Guthrie - "This is What it Feels Like"
There's a fair number of Famous DJ featuring Some Other Person songs floating around in the European pop scene right now, but this is certainly one of the very best. Sometimes one needs an evocative and melancholy dance song, and "sometimes" is "at any given moment," as we all know.
Ariana Grande - "The Way" ft Mac Miller
I know this sample's been around the block a few times, but this is simply a wonderful take on it, and makes it all seem very fresh again. A ridiculously catchy song that hopefully foreshadows more bubbly pop excellence to come from Ariana Grande.
