Helena Christensen from Benjamin Kanarek’s Archives for Dépêche Mode Magazine

By Benjaminkanarek @bkanarekblog

I was going through some of Benjamin Kanarek‘s archived tear-sheets when I fell on these nuggets, he shot with Danish Super Model and Miss Denmark 1986, Helena Christensen for the iconic French Magazine Dépêche Modeback in 1988.

Dépêche Mode was a trend setting and forward fashion thinking reference for an entire generation and was featuring photographers like Paulo Roversi, Peter Lindbergh, Javier Vallhonrat and many others. Unfortunately, they closed shop in 2001. The music group Depeche Mode got their name from the magazine Dépêche Mode that they discovered accidentally and decided to use on a whim.

Benjamin was using one of his out of focus-sharp signature for this Perfume and Evening Style fashion editorial.

Helena has just been featured with Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova and Yasmin Le Bon in “Girl Panic”, the last music video from Duran Duran back which brings back a flavor of the early nineties and the Super Models era.

Remember also the Chris Isaac “Wicked Game” music video directed by Herb Ritts featuring Helena?
