Heimish Aqua Tone Up Cream Review & What Exactly Are Tone Up Creams?

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

I have a lot of product reviews lined up but sometimes I don't know which I should publish first. So I ask my Instagram followers which should I publish first. And this tone up cream won in the poll against Pyunkang Yul Eye Cream. So what exactly is a "tone up" cream, is it like a BB cream, is it a makeup or a skincare product? So many questions to be answered so scroll down now to read my Heimish Aqua Tone Up Cream review.

BUT FIRST, WHAT IS A TONE UP CREAM?

A "tone up cream" is actually a treatment step so it's more like a skincare product than a makeup. Tone-up products are specifically made to balance and brighten skin tone as well as fight hyperpigmentation and discoloration. Some tone ups are not just simple creams like a moisturizer, some can be a sunblock, primer, or other makeup bases like the Heimish Artless Glow Base. And some have even light tints to even out skin tones. But whatever tone up products you are using, they all have the same general effect: evening out and brightening skin tone.

WHAT IS IT?

Heimish Aqua Tone Up Cream is a skincare and makeup product in one. It is lightweight and non-sticky cream that hydrates the skin while giving it a bright, healthy glow. Perfect for all skin types, especially combination to oily skin, it can be used as a moisturizer, a CC cream due to its tone-up effect, and as a hydrating primer for smooth makeup application.

INGREDIENTS

Out of its six ingredients, the most notable one is the Glutathione which is a very popular whitening ingredient in Asia. You can read more about its ingredient analysis in CosDNA.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: At the last step of your morning routine, apply enough amount of the Heimish Aqua Tone-Up Cream onto face, then pat gently until the cream is fully absorbed.

SCENT: It has a cool scent that resembles a man's body wash and perfume.

PACKAGING: It is packaged in a squeeze tube with metallic details. But instead of a box, it comes with a round plastic tube as well that looks good enough to be a storage for your pencils such as eyeliner and brow liner.

RESULT: This is the most lightweight and non-greasy tone up cream I ever use., plus it is truly hydrating. My skin also feels soft after using this tone up cream. It's really perfect for those with oily and combination skin. It doesn't leave a white cast either, however, it's too bright or rather, too white for my golden brown skin tone. Also, I don't know if this happens to other people as well, maybe because I am acidic, whenever I use a tone up creams (not just this Heimish Aqua Tone Up Cream), it tends to turn greyish in a few minutes like how foundations turn orange on my skin.

Anyway, if you have a lighter skin tone, I'm sure you'll love this tone up cream. I actually gave mine to my father who has a lighter skin tone than mine. He's an avid BB and tone up creams user. He likes it and uses it every day, but he prefers tone up creams like this one because he says it improves his skin tone with continued use.

VERDICT

PROS: Lightweight, non-greasy, hydrating, does not leave a white cast, and instantly brightens the skin but will improve skin tone with continued use.

CONS: Too pale or light for those with brown skin tones.
