Sponsored Review
I must first start this review by apologizing for the super late update; work had taken over my life and this review is quite over-dued! Thankfully, since I'm reverting back to full-time freelancing full that I can truly enjoy this home-made spa experience, courtesy of Body Shop's new range: Spa of The World series!
If you are abit of a bathroom fanatic such as I, then you'll be loving these luxurious scrubs! For those who with a more classic taste, then the Spa of the World Dead Sea Salt Scrub ($59.90) is for you is precious for its high mineral content and its coarse crystals. When you open the scrub, you may notice a thin layer of oil saturating which is normal as it acts an emollient. The mildly coarse crystals not only sloughs off the dead skincells but also stimulate circulation when massaged into skin.
If you prefer a softer scrub, then try the Spa of the World African Ximenia Scrub ($55.90). This luxurious body scrub features the Ximenia fruit seed, which produces a rich moisturizing oil that adds an additional level of nourishment during exfoliation. It's buttery soft texture yield extremely finely-milled beads that won't be abrasive to skin.Coupled with the beeswax and shea butter, it helps to nourish skin and balance its moisture levels, and even adds a dimenson of whitening.
Whoever thought of creating a mud mask for your body deserves a Nobel Prize; I mean we tend to forget neglect skincare for other parts of our body besides our face. The Spa of the World Himalayan Charcoal Body Clay ($36.90) was super fun to use: its smooth texture made it easy to apply all over my body (its not recommended for face, so do avoid). As you know, Charcoal is a popular skincare ingredient as it acts as a magnet to draw out impurities that are embedded in our epidermis to significantly brighten.
When applied a nice generous layer, there's a faint cooling sensation, before it quickly dries off into a lighter gray color. While its recommended to leave it for about 10 mins, I usually leave it on till it thoroughly dries, before rinsing off with lukewarm water. It's best used for after sloughing away the dead skin with the forementioned scrubs.
You can actually observe a relative lightening on the area before and after :
Now its important to keep your skin nourished after all that deep cleansing; which can sometimes leave it dehydrated. You cannot do wrong with the Spa of the World Japanese Camellia Body Cream ($59.90). This flower oil has long been used by Japanese women since the 8th century as a very gentle moisturizing agent. I can't get enough of the light powdery floral scent, and its cream-gelish texture is both lightweight and fast absorbing to leave a velvety after-feel.
If you have a drier skin condition though, I would say that the Spa of the World Hawaiian Kukui Body Cream ($59.90) is better suited for you. Harnessed from the skincare secret of Hawaiian women, the kukui oil packs a reservoir of deep moisture and helps to preserve skin’s natural suppleness. It has a dainty sweet scent that's abit like jasmine, and is glides on very smoothly on skin to leave it feeling silky and soft. I like using this at night for its comforting scent; and its more potently hydrating for my elbow and knee dry spots.
Last but not least, I have the Spa of the World Polynesian Monoi Radiance Radiance Oil ($36.90). Monoï refers to the special blend of coconut oil and fragrant tiare flowers, which is a 2,000 year old beauty secret of the Pacific Islands in this bottle.
The radiance oil is rich, multi-purpose oil that can be used for skin and hair; personally I found the oil abit too heavy for my already limp hair so I use this more for my body and especially for chapped soles. Tip: dap just a small amount in your palm and rub both hands together so that the heat generated can further boost penetration.
I think this is a perfect way to save that pretty penny by having a luxurious spa -treatment at the comfort of your own home; PLUS with Valentine's Day coming out...how about doing this for your special someone?
Thank you for the lovely treat, The Body Shop Singapore !
