Joel Evans is Tiny eyes, a one-man project from Leicester. His new EP Falling is an excursion into slightly skewed piano folk. Evans does a lot of soul searching about the fairer sex. Quite predictably he is at a loss, but his impressive lyrical abilities enable him to describe his predicament. Standout track Golden Thread says it best:
Every day a song falls
Out of my piano Winding like a golden thread
Melodies and meanings
Tangle up inside
My head
If not anything else, Evans offers pastoral and poetic solace. Had Nick Drake been an eccentric piano player, this is what he might have sounded like.
Falling is a self-released EP. Buy it from his website.
