Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew is set to release his sophomore album, Darlings, this week. If its first single is any indication of the album as a whole, then nobody is going home disappointed. “Good Sex” is light and easy on the ears with its buoyant piano rock and chilled out vocals. In case anyone has forgotten, Drew reassures us that good sex is still really good, especially with a partner who says things like “I’m still breathing with you, baby.” The only bad thing about this song is that its simplicity may mislead one into thinking that pop tracks with wide-ranging appeal are actually simple to create, when in fact quite the opposite is true.

The album’s second single, “Mexican Aftershow Party”, reveals a darker electronic sound, yet still retains the same sincere, lifting vocals as “Good Sex”. Hear both tracks, above and below, and join us in our anticipation of hearing the rest of Darlings very soon.
