James Harrison's agent said Monday that he hasn't closed the door on a possible return for his client to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"My relationship with Pittsburgh is 25 years old," agent Bill Parise said Monday. "I would welcome the phone call from the Steelers."
The linebacker, who turns 35 in May, was in Baltimore for a scheduled visit with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday when the team struck an agreement with Elvis Dumervil, and he is now speaking with other teams.
Harrison was entering the final two years of a $51 million extension he signed in 2009 and was scheduled to make $6.57 million in 2013 before he was released by the Steelers earlier this month in a salary-cap move.
Harrison missed the first three games of the 2012 season with a minor knee injury but was one of Pittsburgh's steadiest performers over the second half of the year. He finished with six sacks, tied for the team lead, and a pair of forced fumbles as the Steelers finished No. 1 in total defense for the fourth time since Harrison became a starter.
He has 64 career sacks and was named The Associated Press' Defensive Player of the Year in 2008 after finishing with a career-best 16 sacks.
It's now pretty obvious that there is no interest in James. So the question now becomes, would we resign him. Certainly the price would be right and I'd bet money it would be a lot less than he was offered before his release.
