Happy new year everyone! So glad to have met so many lovely people through Vegan Bloggers Unite! It’s incredible how one blog really is uniting vegan bloggers from around the world.
Mat and I are hard at work figuring out the best way to approach the VBU! Conference.
We’ve changed the date to Oct. 19 & 20, 2013, the location is still Toronto, Ontario. You wouldn’t believe how many hotels we’ve spoken to and how many are not able to accomodate our needs. We’re in the middle of making decisions and creating a conference like this is rather expensive. The hotel we’re probably going to deal with wants 25% down, so right now that’s roughly $2,500 upfront. Yeah, we’re going to see what we can do about this. Once we have that settled we’re going to open the Early Bird ticket sales and the hotel will hold a block of 10 rooms.
It’s exciting and terrifying at the same time, as this is a big chunk of our personal funds and we’re hoping that we don’t have to cancel due to poor ticket sales. We have a 30 day clause where we can cancel, but we really hope not to have to invoke that.
As soon as we get things settled we will broadcast it to everyone. It would be amazing to see all the lovely faces that connect with us Facebook, Twitter and of course the comments.
Thank you everyone for making VBU! a pretty neat place to be. It warms our hearts that there are so many amazing vegans out there.
