Hansadie Aradhya Akuratiya of Ferguson High School, Ratnapura won the Sri Lanka National Youth Chess Championships 2022 under 10 girls event scoring 6 ½ points out of 7 games and remaining unbeaten throughout.
Hansadie beat Sethumlee Devhara Palliyage, Buddima Aravinda Perera, P.G. Lithumi Hiranya, Meenu Vihansa Hewapathirana, R.B. Pumudi Hansadi and Hirudini Hehenya while drawing against Sasmi Sithumsa in last round to claim the under 10 girls – National Champion Title easily. In this event Sasmi Sithumsa (Lyceum International School) Oshini Gunawardana (Wycherley International School) and R.B. Hansadi Sethumsa (Sujatha Vidyalaya) scored 6 points out of 7 games. But Sasmi had the better tie breaking points to win second place while Oshini won third place.
Top three players will be included in the National Youth Chess teams that will represent the country at Asian/World Youth events.
