We've all seen those dirt cup dessert ideas, especially around Halloween. They're the perfect and easy snack to serve for those themed events. But I wanted to take that idea a step further and bring you a "Black Magic Potion" dessert that you can serve at your next Halloween party or just have put together to surprise the kids after school.
Using OREO Go-Paks! (only $1 each!), Snack Pack® puddings, and Reddi-Wip I picked up at Walmart, I made these fun potion bottle themed desserts that are already separated into individual servings and help keep the messes down to a minimum. Plus, you can always place the lid back on and finish them later!
To make the potion bottles, you will need:
Go-Paks!
Tin Foil
Paper/ Plastic Plate
White Craft Paint
Mod Podge
Sponge Brush
Black and Brown Ink Pads
Ink Pad Sponge
White Tissue Paper
Scissors
Potion Label (you can use THIS one that I made)
Directions:
Spread out your tin foil to use as your workspace and to protect your countertop. Place a few drops of the white paint onto the paper plate and use your sponge brush to apply it to your Go-Paks!. Be sure to leave the silver seal in place to protect your food. You don't want to mix your food with paint or mod podge.
While the paint is drying, wash out your sponge and prepare for the application of the mod podge. When the paint has dried, paint a layer of mod podge on the Go-Paks! then immediately wrap it with a layer of tissue paper. Trim off any of the extra edges of the tissue paper, then apply another layer of mod podge.
At this point, I placed my Go-Paks! upside down since I mod podged the bottom of the packs to make sure I didn't have any free edges from the tissue paper.
While your paint is drying, cut out your potion labels. Then apply a small layer of mod podge where your label will go, place the label over the glue, and then apply one more layer of glue over the label to make sure it stays in place.
Once the mod podge has dried completely, use your ink sponge to apply the black and brown inks all over the tissue paper. The tissue paper should have given you a fun texture. I did a layer of black all over then a light layer of brown.
Once the paint and ink have dried completely, it is safe to start working with your food. Remove the silver seals and gather the rest of your potion ingredients:
Snack Pack® puddings
Reddi-Wip
Marshmallows
Chocolate Sauce
Halloween Sprinkles
Directions:
Using your Go-Paks! as the dishes, add one chocolate Snack Pack® puddings (forNABISCO Go-Paks! Mini OREO Chocolate Sandwich Cookies or vanilla for the NABISCO Go-Paks! Mini OREO Golden Sandwich Cookies), 1/4 cup of miniature marshmallows, and mix well. Once it is mixed, top it off with Reddi-Wip, a drizzle of chocolate sauce, and some fun sprinkles.
Don't forget to decorate your table to fit the potion bottle theme!
