I have a strict criteria when it comes to watching movies. They must be made by John Hughes and starring Molly Ringwald. I'm not being hyperbolic, this is a fact. On a late 1990's rainy day I found my parent's collection of John Hughes VHS tapes. The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and of course Pretty In Pink. I brought them to my bedroom and had what would be the first of many, John Hughes movie marathons. Finally, my awkward adolescent years all made sense! I was Claire, Sam, and Andie all rolled into one (minus the red hair). She was my spirit animal!
So you can imagine my excitement last week when I stumbled upon a strikingly similar version of Andie's famous pink prom dress. And with two days to go until a movie themed Halloween party, with no costume to speak of, it was a no-brainer purchase!
I'm certain that finding this pink dress was kismet. If you're a John Hughes movie fanatic, and still clueless about a costume, don't worry; you have more than enough time to throw this one together. Peruse your local vintage shop. Even better, quick shipping online destinations like Shopbop will have everything to your door in plenty of time for your Halloween festivities this Friday (free of charge). You can shop their collection of pretty pink lace dresses, all of which could emulate Andie's cool 80's style. Finish the look with pearl stud earrings, a gold bracelet, and of course a red bob! And if you can convince the man in your life to dress up as Duckie, then you are officially my idol.
