Half Moon Run is easily one of the best Canadian contributions to indie music in recent years, and with a sophomore album on the way, we have a lot to be thankful for. “Trust” is our first glimpse at the October 23 release of Sun Leads Me On, and it reassures that the magic from their Dark Eyes debut album in 2013 is still intact. It’s a little less folksy and bit more electronic, but the dramatic vocals of Devon Portielje that vacillate between pained and accusational are still the highlight.
After expanding the band to a four piece, increasing and experimenting with instrumentation, and essentially finding a new creative process to redefine their sound, Half Moon Run is poised to come back swinging.
