A new research sheds light on a terrifying new way that hackers can use to access our computers and use its’ webcam to spy on its’ users without even blinking the green warning light.

The research conducted by Johns Hopkins University, showed how easy it is to access the webcams on Apple MacBooks and iMacs using a set of tools. The research team has released a paper called “iSeeYou: Disabling the MacBook Webcam Indicator LED,“ detailing the process of how they hacked webcams on Apple computers. According to Washington Post, the FBI has been using this sort of methods for years to access its’ target’s computer webcams without even turning on the indicator light. And this is not limited to Apple computers either. With this method hackers are capable of reprogramming the computer’s chip that power-up the webcam to make it work as they want.

It’s probably the best time to put a sticker over your webcam right now, since it’s the easiest way to know that nobody can see you. Who knows, maybe someone might be spying on you right now.
