Title Create your perfect capsule wardrobe: the road trip SummaryPlanning a road trip is the perfect way to spend quality time with your best buds while exploring the country of your choice. Read on to find out how to create your perfect road trip capsule wardrobe…Body Road trips conjure up images of great swathes of iconic American landscapes such as the Grand Canyon, Route 66 and the Pacific Coast Highway… But you don't have to head Stateside to create perfect memories. A road trip from Edinburgh to Exeter or Paris to Prague can be just as glamorous – all you need is the perfect capsule wardrobe to take you from dusty days behind the wheel to chilled evenings at the digs of your choice. Let's face it, you could head out on your road trip with nothing but ripped jeans and a pair of beaten up trainers - but why not make your road trip a bit more special with some fashion forward designer gear? The first thing you need to consider is a killer pair of sunnies. After all, even if you're driving in the UK, the sun does sometimes peep out from behind the clouds. Why not bring out your inner hipster and go for something with a classic shape and modern edge? There are lots of sunglasses on the market right now that tap into this look. Next thing on the list -and an absolute must for every road trip - is a killer leather jacket. This wardrobe staple has undergone an image change in the last few years, from bad boy/girl grunge to everyday chic. If you're not sure how to pair this with your summer florals then check Jess Cartner-Morley's how to dress for inspiration.  Now it's time to think about shoes. No matter how big your road trip chariot, no one wants to ride around with 10 pairs of smelly shoes. Get it right with the three essential pieces of footwear every road tripper needs. First off, get some sassy shoe boots with a nice workable heel - smart but with everyday comfort in mind. After all, most of us can't drive in three inch heels, as much as we'd like to. Take a tip from the fashionistas at Vogue and go for something similar to this great black suede offering from ASH. Next up sandals and let's face it, the Gladiator never really went away and now it's back and better than ever. This year the most on-trend can go for the knee high version – and if you can't find them in the shops, a little DIY could be in order. And then of course there's trainers. Every laid back diva needs a pair of Converse to rock those skinny jeans and cut off shorts. Be bold and bright - let those trainers stand out from the crowd. Next thing on the list is denim. Now, everyone has their denim loves and their denim limits. Some of us just love to slouch in stretchy boot cut jeans, others couldn't leave the house without a pair of achingly tight skinnys. However, there's so much more to this versatile fabric than just the cut. The 2013 road tripper is going to want at least one piece of statement denim in their bag alongside those comfy favourites. Go for embellished jeans with studs, floral transfers or stars.

Just remember, get distressed or get patchwork or colour-blocked, but don't wear anything that isn't comfortable – shorts should be an easy, classic item to throw on.
Now choose your favorite scarf, preferably in a cool pastel, grab your Indiana Jones hat and head on out on your adventure. Laura x
