Hey y'all!
I'm Ashley and I blog over at Always Ashley. I'm so excited that Samantha has invited me to share my heart with all of her wonderful readers! I've only known her for a little over a month, but she's already become one of my best "blogfriends". Here's just a little bit about me before I get into my new found obsession with potatoes (don't stop reading because of how silly that sounds...I promise, I'm going somewhere with this!). I'm 26, married to the most delectable piece of male flesh ever created, I run a youth mentoring program for young girls, and I am a sucker for any movie starring Audrey Hepburn. Honestly, I just like watching movies in general. Since my husband and I both have very busy schedules, plopping down on the couch and firing up the Netflix has become a great way for us to slow down for a couple of hours and just enjoy each others company.

A couple of nights ago, while scrolling through the Faith & Spirituality section, I came across the movie Faith Like Potatoes. Now if you haven't watched this movie yet, you are definitely missing out. If you have seen it, then I can imagine you nodding in agreement as I type the rest of this.
Without giving to much of the story away, let me give you a general synopsis. A half-hearted Christian farmer in Zambia is forced to move his family to an even more rural area to basically started their lives over. As he struggles with the challenge of farming potatoes (among other things) in one of the worst droughts the area has ever faced, he begins to distance himself from his family and allow anger and doubt to control him. Everything is changed when he and his family visit a church and he decides to recommit himself, his family and his farm to Jesus.
In a nutshell, this movie was amazing!
As my husband and I watched the story unfold we were caught with our jaws hanging open again and again at the beauty of this man's Faith. God was moving in His life in such a marvelous way and the people around Him were certainly benefiting from the overflow. His Faith in the truth of God's word as he read it with refreshed eyes was just mind-blowing to me.
But why?
As so-called "believers", shouldn't we actually believe what God promises us?
Watching the movie not only made me smile at the joy of watching the characters grow in their faith. It also saddened me a little as I began to realize the now obvious lack of faith I expressed in certain areas of my life.
One of my favorite passages of scripture reads:
"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1, NLT)."Guest Post: Always Ashley
This is the type of woman I resolve to be in 2013. One who does not question if she will receive God's blessings, but is sure that His promises are just that; promises. I will be a woman whose faith does not waiver when times get hard. I will walk in love and with the confidence that One I serve will always provide for me.
Worry is a thing of the past.
I'm tapping into some big, solid, faith! The kind of faith that is so real that I can feel it, and so can those around me. You know...kinda like a potato. Real! Huge! Solid! Edible! ...Okay, maybe not edible. But I think you can see where I'm going with this.
I refuse to stress. I refuse to slack in accomplishing my goals. I will have faith that I will be successful on my job, in my marriage, in my friendships, as a mother when that times comes, and  in finally making a complete crochet blanket (hey, a goal is a goal).
Love you all and hopefully I'll see a few of you poking around my world in the future.

With A Servant's Heart,
Ashley Danielle
