We are constantly trying to find ways to make our skin better. Healthy. Glowy. Poreless. A girl can dream right? But, honestly, the key to healthier skin is usually under our noses.
It’s in our womanly nature to be distracted by new, shiny things that promises us healthier, younger-looking skin. Sometimes they do. But most times, they don’t.
Here are a few items that outperform their higher priced competitors. Best thing is…they’ve been doing so for decades.
Cetaphil
When all else fails, stick with the basics.

Another item that may seem boring but you can put your money on it. Whenever I get fed up with the pretty and shiny, I can always depend on witch hazel. It’s amazing for oily skin too. It helps control oil production as well as tightens pores.
It’s an all-natural astringent so it will be great for all skin types. And, to top it off, it’s a good-for-your-pockets type of toner. Compare it those toners by cosmetic powerhouses like Lancome and Clinique – it’s a steal!

Electronic brush systems like Clarisonic and my favorite Clarisonic knockoff Olay Pro X brush are essential to healthy skin.
As I write this, new electronic brush systems are hitting shelves daily. The results of using these brush systems are immediate and even dramatic at times. This is why there are so popular and popping up everywhere. This is good because it often means good pricing options for us.
Electronic brush cleansing systems take the elbow grease out of exfoliation and actually makes it fun and therapeutic at the same time. They are amazing at demolishes dead skin layers and de-clogging pores. They also allow for treatment creams and serums to seep deeper into the skin which equals better results.
Glycolic Peel Pads
Sometimes you need a mini facial at home. Cleansing pads with glycolic and/or Alpha Hydroxy Acids can give you spa-like results in a couple of swipes.
