Grey Wet Days

Grey Wet Days
It's been raining here pretty much non-stop for the last week, the forecast says it's going to be pretty much raining for the next week and a half ... that's as far ahead as it goes ... so it could be longer.  We are currently on a yellow rain warning.
The good news is our water harvesting system and the soakaway is working a treat.  The drains we laid on the main road are doing the highways agency a favour in stopping the usual huge puddles from forming all along the edge of the road that caused problems for the cars speeding past on this stretch. they are valiantly carrying the water away into the mains drainage system.

The bad news is the gloom is getting me down, I am sitting in the office here typing this with the main light on and the desk lamp to illuminate the keyboard.  It's also lonely when I do venture out, Rosy usually comes with me for chicken duties, but not for the last few days.  I did the doggy walk with only Mavis for company, the other two refused point blank to venture out away from the overhang of the conservatory roof, I left them sat there when I went with Mavis and they were still there when we got back.  Suky is not a wet weather Pug!!

The chickens are mostly invisible in Chicken World, sheltering in and under the henhouse, in the covered over Eglu and in the rainy day shelter that we built for them.  The only time they venture out is when they hear a noise from the house or see me in the doorway, then they care less about getting wet and more about the potential of treats from the house or the corn bin.

This morning I came down to this, Ginger, Suky and Mavis sharing the bed in the conservatory ...

... and Rosy in her own bed in the kitchen,  she only shares when she wants to.
I did a workout to one of my Dvds this morning to lift my mood and warm me up after the soggy doggy walk, it worked a treat, and now I think I've earnt the right to sit at the computer for a while and read other folks blogs.  I think I'll start with those of you on the other side of the world..... you seem to have pinched our sunshine ... enjoy!!    ;-)
