You may have read a few of my other protein bar reviews before. I’m by no means a gym bunny, I do work out but I don’t pretend I know what I’m talking about when it comes to macros and the like. I do tend to buy protein bars though as they’re so easy to eat on the go, are usually filling enough to tide me over until a proper meal time and my husband is usually getting one for himself anyway!
It’s taken a while but I’ve finally got my grubby mitts on the holy grail (in my opinion) of protein bar flavours: Grenade Carb Killa Limited Edition Banana Armour.

The bar smelt very banana-y and it didn’t take much convincing for me to get stuck in.
The chocolate used is the same as is used in previous Grenade Carb Killa bars, nothing out of this world as a stand alone chocolate but impressive for a protein bar. The sweetener Maltitol is the main ingredient for the chocolate and it is pretty sweet but it still has a decent enough chocolate flavor.
The crispy pieces don’t have much flavor to note but provide a welcome crunch against the overall chewy feel of the bar. The caramel, although on the thin side, is present and stickily sweet.
The reason I personally bought the bar though was for the banana. Worryingly beforehand there was not a hint of even the word banana on the ingredients list. There’s no missing it in the flavor though. Amy said in her review, and I fully agree, it tastes just like a foam banana sweet! Yes it’s very artificial but isn’t that the charm? The milk chocolate only made me think of the elusive but delicious, chocolate covered foam bananas – I was in pick’n’mix heaven!
As for the protein? Well I won’t lie, I could taste it a little – more as an aftertaste but even so. It was nothing a quick swig of water didn’t fix but it wasn’t quite as protein bar in disguise as the I’m-still-not-sure-it-even-is-a-protein-bar Fufil bar.
I would re-buy for sure.
