Greeniversity – Skill Sharing

As we prepare for 2013 we look back at all the workshops we have run at our previous event.

We are keen to develop the idea of skill sharing and community learning, we have been speaking to an organisation called Greeniversity and we are looking for support in bringing this to Manchester.

2012

Rubbish Revamped offered a collection of waste related craft sessions throughout the day.

Our friends from Stitched Up were running a swap shop whilst offering brooch making sessions.

Salad Hanging basket workshops produced some gorgeous looking examples

Nature and Me ran screen printing classes with a nature related theme.

Mamu’s Greenwood Craft  with his man-powered laythe ran workshops in the basics of greenwood craft all day long.

Pop Up Farm were on hand with a children focused workshop on making small growing planters.

MORFF offered a lesson in micro-organisms and showed us how to make a rejuvenating mudball.

Friends of Platt Fields gave a back to basics tour of the eco garden’s herb circle.

Greenpeace ran workshops of tekra-pack wallet making.

2011

Kids With Hooves ran a session on updating and personalising the look of your bike

Revolve MCR were on hand to run bike repair workshops throughout the day

Layland’s City Farm gave a introduction to keep poultry

Dreamvolution showed us how to test the soil Ph levels and identify different types of soil

Upcycle1
LiLi ran sustainability workshops throughout the day, including making a belt with old bike tires, plus took the lovely folk on a wild food walk through the park.

RSPB with their stories of the Manchester peregrine falcons showed us how to make bird feeders for our gardens.

Manchester Vegetable Orchestra ran a workshop on how to make your own instruments from vegetables.

Upcycle
Ardwick Eco Arts, more recycling tricks with workshops on how to make coasters and purses.

M3 Youth Project ran youth theatre workshops throughout the day.

Our favourite woodsman Mamu showed off his wood craft with demonstrations.

2010

Solar Salsa gave us a fabulous salsa lesson

Hulme Community Garden Centre showed us how to create a delightful hanging basket for our gardens

Emerge 3R’s, who better to get a lesson in the basics than from Manchester own tour de force of community recycling.

Stitched Up‘s beginners guide to make do and mend, reviving the art of dawning!

WindowFarm, a mix of Blue Peter trickery, open source tech and the lovely Maya.

ArcSpace‘s Eco Build, this was a week of eco-build related community shenanigans to produce a demonstration eco house for the festival.

Kids With Hooves collective was on hand to deliver a live art “General Waste” bin workshop, which the venue to kept after the festival.
