Green Medal For Brazil at London 2012

Posted on the 16 August 2012 by Thewritefuture @thewritefuture

The Brazilian football players may not have won a gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics, they did, by far, win the London 2012 Olympic medal for trendy & sustainable football boots. They were playing on the lightest, fastest, most environmentally-friendly boots Nike has ever made: the Nike GS. According to the Nike website the boots are:

made of form fitting recycled polyester, made from 95% recycled plastic bottles. In 2011, Nike diverted the equivalent of 285 million bottles from landfills. The ultimate comeback for a bottle.

Other parts of the shoes are made with at least 77% castor beans, which require less water to grow than other natural materials.

The boots are made in a limited edition with in total 2.012 pairs world-wide and today the last few remaining boots will go on sale in the UK. Too late to impress at the Olympics but enough time to score some attention at your local football club!
