SACRAMENTO – The Green California Summit, the state’s largest annual event highlighting innovations in green policy, practice and technology, comes again to the Sacramento Convention Center on April 8–9.
Attendance for the expo, keynote addresses, opening reception and leadership awards event is free. City and county agency officials registering to attend the other summit events (such as the April 7 pre-summit trainings and April 8–9 concurrent workshops) will receive a 20 percent discount on the registration fee. To take advantage of reduced registration fees, when registering online, city officials should indicate LEAGUE on the discount code field and county officials should indicate CSAC on the discount code field.
The summit includes concurrent workshops addressing energy, water, transportation and other topics, an expo with more than 100 companies offering green products and services, and a Leadership Awards reception. A Local Government Best Practices track, organized by the Institute for Local Government and the Statewide Energy Efficiency Collaborative, keynote speakers and an expo are among the variety of educational opportunities offered on April 8.
Featured keynote speakers are Anne Simpson, senior portfolio manager and director of Global Governance for CalPERS and Wade Crowfoot, deputy cabinet secretary, Office of the Governor. Simpson leads efforts by CalPERS to integrate environmental, social, and governance across the total fund. This strategy is not only leading to changes in investment practices by other major investors, it is proving to be a factor in increasing returns on CalPERS investments. Crowfoot has recently guided efforts to expand zero-emission vehicles in California and build international partnerships with China and other countries to fight climate change.
