Great Australian Animal Welfare Organisations Part 2

animal welfare

In January I posted about a few of my favourite animal welfare organisations. Following up from that post I wanted to share two more organisations doing great work for animals.

The first needs no introduction… the RSPCA. Many of you will be familiar with the work that the RSPCA does but I thought I might share with you some of the main work they are known for:

  • Shelters –  rescue, rehabilitate and re-home.
  • Animal cruelty- investigate reports of animal cruelty, can seize animals and issue on the spot fines.
  • Work with farming industries- engage in driving animal welfare improvements across the supply chain.
  • Represent on national groups and committees- standards for export of livestock, NHMRC, and dairy Australia groups to name a few.

If you are passionate about the work the RSPCA does and would like to support them please follow information in this LINK.

The second organisation I wanted to share is another well known icon WIRES. Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service (WIRES) rescues and cares for native animals with a mission to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same.

You can support WIRES in a number of ways from donations to training to be a wild life rescuer or carer yourself. I highly recommend downloading the WIRES app which allows you to report a rescue, get rescue information for common species, and find a nearest vet.

I hope you have the chance to take a look at the fantastic work these animal welfare organisations do and show your support so they may continue to help these amazing creatures.
