Project Wing is being developed by the same minds behind Google’s Project Loon, Glass, driverless cars and many other Google X labs projects. Obviously, Google seems to be aiming to rival Amazon’s Prime Air drone delivery service, which is also still in its early testing, with the Project Wing by providing a much user-friendly express delivery system.

As you can see in the image and video, the drone Google has used for Project Wing is quite different from other conventional drones we’ve seen so far. This drone features a helicopter/ place hybrid design with tail-sitting vertical take-off and landing abilities. Google has carried out several testings in Australia to see how well this drone can perform while carrying objects, and it seems to be doing well for a prototype aircraft.

Google also launched a Project Wing interest form to ask big companies to join with them in testing the service to help them “bring this technology to the world safely.”
