Everyone knows that Google names their Android releases alphabetically. Starting with Cupcake, and followed by Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, and came all the way over to Jelly Bean. They were left with “K” to name its next release. Based on this order and Google’s taste in sweets, a lot of analysts and experts suggested that Google will most likely name their next version of Android Keylime Pie but, as it turns out we were all wrong because Google has now officially announced the Android 4.4 to be called.. “KitKat”.

“Yep, our upcoming release will be named Android KitKat!,” Google revealed the name via a post on the official Android Google+ page ”KitKat has been a favorite candy on the team for some time, so for the K release, we asked if they’d be willing to lend their iconic candy bar to its name.” Rest assured the company was more than happy to give their name to Google for a while because they probably knew this brings nothing but more sales and popularity for the tasty candy bar. And I’m sure Google might have scored some bucks off the deal as well. In fact, to celebrate the partnership KitKat has teamed up with Google to giveaway “a few” new Nexus 7 tablets and Google Play credits. So, lookout when you eat KitKats.
