Google is now preparing to launch a new service for Android users called, Android Device Manager, similar to Apple’s ”Find My iPhone”, which allows users to track down their lost or stolen device with just a few simple clicks. This is one of the highly requested and much anticipated Android features that everyone has been waiting for.

After the service rolls out later this month for devices running Android 2.2 or above, you will have the ability to locate your lost Android device on a map in real time. And if you still can’t remember the exact place where you left it, you can use Android Device Manager to ring your phone at maximum volume, even if its’ on silent mode. Sounds pretty cool, right? But, that’s not all.

If your Android phone or tablet gets stolen, it’s better to get rid of all your personal data on the device immediately. This new service makes it possible for you to remotely wipe out all of the data from your device instantly. It’s a dangerous feature because if someone else gets control over your Google account or phone, they will also get the control over these features. But, it will also be useful in desperate times.
