Google always does a bit of a cleaning at the end of almost every season. They made some pretty big changes in the recent Spring Clean and now the company is getting rid of several other minor features and services for Winter Cleaning.

In this particular clean-up, Google is getting rid of several features in Google Calendars. Starting on January 4th, 2013 you will lose the ability to create new reservable times or create or view an event via SMS. Setting up new devices using Google Sync wont gonna work either because Google is discontinuing this feature, allowing access only for Google Apps. Which means Microsoft Exchange wont work in Gmail anymore. And in June, 2013 Google is shutting down its’ Issue Tracker Data API and Punchd app.
Thankfully, these less popular features wont be missed by many users. Heck, I’ve never even heard about these features up until today. Google says that these difficult decisions are made just to build a seamless, amazing Google experience for the users. And they promises to improve it in the upcoming new year as well. Good for us!
