NY Daily News: This is a family of 10 lucky ducks. A mother duck and her nine ducklings were rescued from the middle of a busy Canadian road by a cab driver who scooped them up, dropped them on the back seat and drove them to a river.

Urga Adunga turned on his hazard lights and stopped on a Calgary street. He got out and — helped by other drivers who also stopped — he began herding the duck family.

“I didn’t want to pass them because there is no way for them to escape from the road,” he told the CBC Friday.

“The other people, they are very nice people, and they stopped and they helped me get the nine ducklings,” the cabbie said. “One of the people who helped me was a mother and she had a backpack for the baby, and she tried to put them in there, but we couldn’t do it.” So they picked up the ducks with their hands and placed them inside the cab.

Adunga then drove his new fare to the Bow River, where he carried the ducks to the shore and watched them waddle into the water. Then he cleaned the back seat and went back to work.

“We have to rescue each other,” he said. “We have to help each other.”
