Some wonderfully sweet neighbors were about to celebrate their golden anniversary and asked me to hand-letter their guest book.

It was such a pleasure to play a small part in this very special event.

Creating a lettering look that went with the style of the pre-printed type was my goal.

Here’s an inside look at how I completed the task.

I first created several drafts to get the feel for the stye and size.

I custom mixed gouache paint until I got the perfect color.

Once I was comfortable with the color and the look, I positioned my final draft on my light table with the book page on top.

I lettered the words using my final draft as a guide to ensure I got the exact placement and size I wanted.

They were thrilled with the final result.

It was nice to do something like this for such a sweet couple.

Happy Golden Anniversary Sandra and Frank!

My new Cantoni font is ready for submission to Myfonts.com.

I’ll be sure to let you know when it is up on the site and ready for purchase.

And I’ll be posting images soon to show you the final results!

In the meantime, my calligraphy fonts, Dom Loves Mary and Belluccia are available for purchase here.

Have a Masterful Monday

:)
