We're honored to announce that the 1st Honorable Mention for our Annual Culinary Scholarship goes to Marie Bergquist!
Marie has known that she has wanted to be a chef from a young age. From her essay: " I grew up knowing I wanted to be a chef someday, and when I told people I was met with opposition. I was told I would end up switching because no one knows what career they want to pursue that early, so I made it my point to prove them wrong. I have been working hard in a kitchen for over five years of my young life and plan to continue. "
Cooking isn't just a profession for Marie, it's also her passion, as she states in her essay " Creating food is an art, from the flavor pairing and seasoning to the plate presentation. I enjoy coming up with new combinations to surprise people and leave them wanting to come back for more. "
We're excited to help Marie pursue her dreams of becoming a full time chef and wish her well in her studies!
